Upwork is a freelance marketplace. Feedback is left once a contract on the platform ends, so each review is tied to a piece of work that was actually agreed and paid for through Upwork.

How to read reviews of an accounting firm

Star ratings say little on their own. The useful reviews name the work: which return was filed, what deadline was involved, whether the CRA followed up, and whether the fee matched the quote. Read a few in full rather than the average, and look at the dates, because a firm's recent reviews describe the team you would deal with today.

Check how the firm answers criticism, too. A public reply that explains what happened is a better sign than silence. Then check what a review cannot tell you: every tax file is different, so ask for a written quote on yours before any work starts.
