Decoding Dieppe Tax Filing Jargon

T1 General
The personal income tax return individuals file with the CRA each year.
T2 Corporate Return
The corporate income tax return every incorporated Canadian business must file.
GST/HST Return
The sales-tax return businesses file to remit GST/HST collected, net of input tax credits.
Dieppe: Our Analysis

Dieppe is Canada's fastest-growing francophone city, with an entrepreneurial base spanning retail, logistics and the airport corridor. New businesses meet the 15% HST's single combined return; professionals weigh incorporation under New Brunswick's 2.5% small business rate (about 11.5% combined); and investors in local ventures can use the NB Small Business Investor Tax Credit — up to 50% on eligible personal investments.

Field Notes: Dieppe

What does a tax consultant check first when a Dieppe file lands on the desk? The same short list every time — and it starts with the provincial side.

New Dieppe owners often assume the sales-tax setup is a formality. It isn't. New Brunswick uses a single 15% HST administered by the CRA, filed on one combined return. The businesses that internalize this early keep their books clean; the rest generate correction work.

On the corporate side, the provincial rate structure shapes year-end planning. New Brunswick applies a 2.5% small business rate, producing an 11.5% combined rate. For a Dieppe business, that is the ground floor of the filing.

Hiring in Dieppe adds one more line to the payroll setup. New Brunswick levies no employer health tax.

A complete New Brunswick filing review looks past what you owe to what you might have missed. That means holding your year up against programs such as New Brunswick Small Business Investor Tax Credit, New Brunswick Research and Development Tax Credit — no assumptions about eligibility, just the discipline of actually checking. We build every Dieppe engagement around that fact.

Because Dieppe's economy leans on forestry, energy, food processing, information technology and logistics, the local filing season has a recognizable shape for an accountant: the same sector-driven income types, the same deduction questions, the same provincial wrinkles, year after year.

Our model is simple: the same fixed fee everywhere in Canada, and review-then-pay. Where you live affects your return; it does not affect what you are charged. It is the first thing we walk Dieppe owners through.

Dieppe Tax & Accounting Case Studies

See how our expert Dieppe tax and accounting services have helped Canadian businesses save money and stay compliant.

Case Study 1

Collections Halted And $73,000 Cut From A 6-Year Backlog — Mining Services Supplier, Dieppe

Collections had begun against a mining services supplier in Dieppe, New Brunswick over 6 years of unfiled returns. Bringing them current cut $73,000 from the balance.

By the time a mining services supplier in Dieppe, New Brunswick called, 6 years were outstanding. The CRA had assessed on estimates. Underneath it sat out-of-province sales billed at the NB rate instead of the customer’s. We reconstructed the records year by year. We recalculated the corporate tax at the 11.5% combined small business rate and rebased the instalments on the current year. Each filing replaced an arbitrary assessment with a real one. The account is current. Filing on real numbers rather than CRA estimates reduced the balance by $73,000, and a relief application addressed part of the accumulated interest.

Case Study 2

12 Months Reconciled And $18,500 Of Input Tax Recovered — Fishing Enterprise, Dieppe

12 months of records at a fishing enterprise in Dieppe, New Brunswick had never been reconciled. That left sector-specific exposure the previous accountant had not seen before. Rebuilding recovered $18,500.

Nothing reconciled at a fishing enterprise in Dieppe, New Brunswick. Every filing started with 12 months of cleanup. The file was carrying sector-specific exposure the previous accountant had not seen before. We rebuilt from source rather than correcting on top of the existing file. We rebuilt the sales ledger by customer location, applied the correct place-of-supply rate to each stream, and filed the adjusted HST returns. Then we set the routine that keeps it clean. 12 months reconciled to the bank. The close now takes 4 days, and $18,500 of previously unclaimable input tax was recovered in the process.

Case Study 3

Audit Defence Closed In 7 Weeks, $15,000 Cleared — Maple and Specialty Crop, Dieppe

A maple and specialty crop producer in Dieppe, New Brunswick was under review. The issue was 15% HST charged on every sale regardless of where the customer was located. The file closed in 7 weeks with $15,000 of proposed tax cleared.

A maple and specialty crop producer in Dieppe, New Brunswick was selected for review. 15% HST charged on every sale regardless of where the customer was located had shown up in the CRA's automated matching. The proposed adjustment on its NB tax and accounting file came to $15,000. We assessed and claimed New Brunswick Research and Development Tax Credit alongside the federal return. Every figure in the response traced to a source record the auditor could verify without asking a second question. The review closed with no change. $15,000 of proposed tax came off the table, and the documentation now in place makes the next review a short one.

Case Study 4

Corporate Structure Rebuilt For $34,500 Of Annual Savings — Regional Freight Carrier, Dieppe

The structure at a regional freight carrier in Dieppe, New Brunswick no longer fitted the business. Payroll obligations from another province applied to local staff by an out-of-province provider showed it. Rebuilding it saves $34,500 a year.

The structure at a regional freight carrier in Dieppe, New Brunswick dated from years earlier. It had been set up for a business that no longer existed. Payroll obligations from another province applied to local staff by an out-of-province provider had become expensive. We assessed and claimed New Brunswick Small Business Investor Tax Credit alongside the federal return. The reorganisation used the rollover provisions rather than a taxable transfer, so no tax fell due on the restructuring itself. $34,500 of annual saving, achieved on a tax-deferred basis. The minute book, elections and valuations are all in the file.

Case Study 5

$109,000 Of Working Capital Freed From The Tax Cycle — Moving and Storage Company, Dieppe

A moving and storage company in Dieppe, New Brunswick was profitable and permanently short of cash. Behind the gap sat instalments still calculated on a year the business had long outgrown. Restructuring the tax cycle freed $109,000.

A moving and storage company in Dieppe, New Brunswick was profitable on paper and short of cash every month. Instalments still calculated on a year the business had long outgrown explained most of the gap. We recalculated the corporate tax at the 11.5% combined small business rate and rebased the instalments on the current year. We also built a thirteen-week cash view so tax payments stopped competing with payroll for the same dollars. $109,000 was released back into working capital. Remittances have been on time every period since, and the forecast shows the tax outflow before it lands.

Case Study 6

$92,000 Credit Claim Filed And Accepted Without Adjustment — Courier Fleet, Dieppe

A courier fleet in Dieppe, New Brunswick had never tested its work against the eligibility rules. The resulting $92,000 claim was accepted without adjustment.

A courier fleet in Dieppe, New Brunswick assumed the credits did not apply to a business its size. New Brunswick Small Business Investor Tax Credit eligibility that had never been assessed meant they had applied all along. We identified the qualifying activity and built the documentation to support it. Then we rebuilt the sales ledger by customer location, applied the correct place-of-supply rate to each stream, and filed the adjusted HST returns. $92,000 recovered. Because the eligibility analysis is on file, the same claim can be repeated each year with a fraction of the effort.

Dieppe Tax Filing Questions We Hear Most Often

Direct answers to what Canadian business owners actually ask before hiring an accountant.

How much does a tax accountant in Dieppe cost?

Corporate tax filing starts at $90 and monthly bookkeeping at $10, the same fixed rates we charge nationally. Dieppe businesses pay no location premium, and the quote is agreed before work starts. See the full pricing breakdown.

Do I need to meet my Dieppe accountant in person?

No. Everything runs through a secure portal with e-signatures, so documents never travel by mail and nothing is lost in transit. Clients across Dieppe complete an entire filing without a single in-person meeting, though calls are always available.

Which tax deadlines apply to Dieppe businesses?

Corporate T2 returns are due six months after your fiscal year-end, with any balance owing payable within two or three months depending on your CCPC status. Personal T1 returns are due April 30, and June 15 for the self-employed. GST/HST depends on your filing frequency.

Can you handle both my corporate and personal returns?

Yes, and doing both together is where most of the planning value sits. Salary-versus-dividend mix, shareholder loans and RRSP room interact across the two returns, and treating them separately is how owners overpay. Explore all our services.

What if my books are behind by several years?

That is routine work for us. We rebuild the ledger year by year, file the outstanding returns in sequence, and where eligible apply to the CRA's Voluntary Disclosures Program to reduce penalties and interest.

Are you taking on new clients in Dieppe?

Yes, we are actively taking on new corporate and personal clients in Dieppe, including mid-season transfers from another accountant. Transferring is straightforward and we request the prior files on your behalf.

What industries do you serve in Dieppe?

Construction, healthcare and medical practices, restaurants, e-commerce, real estate, transportation, professional services, technology startups and registered non-profits. Each carries a distinct deduction profile. See our industry specialisms.

How do I switch to your firm from my current accountant?

Tell us who currently holds your files and we handle the professional handover, including requesting working papers and prior-year returns. There is no gap in your compliance and no awkward conversation required on your side.

What is the deadline for filing corporate taxes in Dieppe?

In Dieppe, corporate tax returns (T2) are due within six months of the corporation's fiscal year-end. If you owe tax, the balance must be paid within 2 or 3 months of the year-end.

How much do tax accountants in Dieppe charge?

Our personal tax filing services in Dieppe start from $25, and corporate tax returns start from $90, offered under our 100% Risk-Free price match guarantee.

Does your accounting firm handle CRA audits for clients in Dieppe?

Yes! We provide direct CRA audit defense and representation services for businesses and individuals throughout New Brunswick and across Canada.

Do you have an office in Dieppe?

We do not have a storefront in Dieppe. Documents are exchanged on secure cloud software and everything is signed electronically, and the fee is the same in Dieppe as anywhere else in Canada, with no location premium. Our head office is at 381 Front St W, Toronto, and you can reach the team on +1-416-619-0068.

How does sales tax work for businesses in Dieppe?

New Brunswick uses a single 15% HST administered by the CRA, filed on one combined return. For a Dieppe business, that is the ground floor of the filing.

What should a Dieppe corporation expect at tax time?

New Brunswick applies a 2.5% small business rate, producing an 11.5% combined rate. We build every Dieppe engagement around that fact.

The questions Canadians actually search on this topic, answered plainly. Browse every question in the Canadian tax answers directory.

File a T1 return for the year, sending it electronically with CRA-certified software or mailing a paper return. Gather your slips and receipts first and check them against the ones listed in My Account. For the 2025 tax year the filing and payment deadline was 30 April 2026, or 15 June 2026 to file if you or your spouse were self-employed, with payment still due 30 April 2026. CRA online filing for 2025 returns closes 29 January 2027.

Most tax saving comes from a short list of levers: contributing to an RRSP or a spousal RRSP, holding investments inside a TFSA, FHSA or RESP so growth is sheltered, claiming every deduction and credit you actually qualify for, and splitting income where the rules allow, such as pension income splitting. Business owners add expense timing and salary versus dividend planning. Order matters, so decide before year end rather than at filing time.

Multiply the pre-tax price by the rate for the province of supply. On a $100 purchase in 2026 that is $13.00 in Ontario (13%), $14.00 in Nova Scotia (14%), and $15.00 in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador or Prince Edward Island (15%). In the non-participating provinces and the three territories only the 5% GST applies, so $5.00, plus any provincial sales tax billed separately.

There is no single percentage. Canada uses graduated brackets, so the rate climbs as income climbs and each rate applies only to the income falling inside its own bracket. Your total combines a federal bracket with your province's bracket and is then reduced by credits, which is why two people on the same salary in different provinces pay different amounts. The share withheld from a paycheque also covers CPP or QPP and EI. Check the CRA bracket table for the year concerned.

Sign in to My Account and open the sections for filed returns and notices, where past returns, notices of assessment, slips and carry-forward amounts can be viewed, printed or saved. Without online access, ask the CRA by phone or in writing at the tax centre shown on your notice, or ask whoever prepared the return for their copy. Keep your own records six years from the end of the last tax year they relate to.

Interest on a student loan gives a non-refundable tax credit, not a deduction, and only the interest counts: repaying principal claims nothing. The loan has to come from a federal or provincial government student loan program, so interest on a line of credit, a bank loan or money borrowed from family does not qualify. Interest you cannot use because you owe no tax may be carried forward and claimed in a later year instead of being lost.

The CRA charges compound daily interest on an unpaid balance from the day after the payment deadline until the balance is cleared. The charge uses the prescribed rate, which the CRA resets every calendar quarter, so it moves with market rates rather than staying fixed. Arrears interest is not deductible. Look up the current quarter on the CRA's prescribed interest rates page, and pay something against the balance to slow the daily charge.

For 2026 the lowest federal bracket rate falls to 14%, which cuts tax for anyone with taxable income, and the federal basic personal amount rises to $16,452, tapering at higher incomes. The capital gains inclusion rate stayed at one-half for 2025 and 2026 because the proposed increase was never enacted. Ontario's small business rate drops to 2.2% effective 1 July 2026, and Nova Scotia's HST fell to 14% on 1 April 2025. Provincial credits change separately.

Largely by self-assessment. Employers withhold income tax, CPP and EI from each pay and send it to the CRA; people with other income pay quarterly instalments; then everyone files a return that reconciles the year into a refund or a balance owing. Businesses collect GST/HST from customers and remit it on their own schedule. The CRA administers federal tax and most provincial income tax, while Quebec collects its own through Revenu Quebec.

Land valuation is the assessed value that a provincial or municipal assessment body assigns to a property, normally based on what it would have sold for on a set valuation date. Your municipality multiplies that assessment by its own tax rate to produce the property tax bill, so the valuation drives the bill rather than being a tax itself. Assessments can usually be appealed within a fixed window. Assessed value is not the cost figure used to work out a capital gain on sale.

Online sellers charge the sales tax of the province where the goods or service are delivered, not where the business sits. For 2026 that means GST 5% alone in Alberta and the territories, HST 13% in Ontario, 15% in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island, and 14% in Nova Scotia, down from 15% on 1 April 2025. British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec add PST, RST or QST on top of the GST. Large foreign platforms and digital subscription providers must register and charge tax too.

In most Canadian municipalities the property tax year is the calendar year, so the levy covers the whole of that year even when the bill arrives months later. Assessment runs on its own cycle: a provincial assessment authority values your property as of a fixed valuation date, and that value is then applied for one or more tax years. When a property changes hands mid-year, the lawyers adjust the tax between buyer and seller on closing.
